The History of Central Park Toastmasters - ‘It’s all about having fun!’

Central Park Toastmasters was established in July 1991, after a number of senior Auckland Toastmasters had run a series of demonstration meetings culminating in the formation of a new club based in the Central Park office complex in Penrose.

Members were drawn predominantly from tenants in the Central Park business Centre, surrounding Ellerslie/Penrose businesses, and residential districts. Central Park executive committee members regularly canvas local businesses, talking to owners, HR Managers, and Sales Managers about the many benefits of Toastmasters membership.

The Club has maintained strong membership numbers throughout its 13 year history with a number of members having been associated with the club for over 5 years.

The Central Park club has a wide variety of members from all walks of life and at different stages of their speaking development.  Toastmasters benefits both individuals and the organizations they belong to through the development of members communication and leadership skills, enhancing their performance in their jobs and in their private lives.

Central Park Toastmasters provides a warm, encouraging, and supportive atmosphere.  Members are motivated to overcome their fear of public speaking whilst having fun and developing additional communication skills along the way.

Central Park is a breakfast club, meetings commence at 7am fortnightly on a Tuesday in the Danish House, which is located at 6 Rockridge Ave Penrose adjacent to the Ericsson Stadium.  Meetings run strictly to time, concluding no later than 8.20am.  During a standard meeting, breakfast is available, and three formal speeches will be presented and evaluated by club members.  Meetings also include impromptu speaking and business sessions each fortnight.

Toastmasters is for everyone…why not come along and have some fun at Central Park.  Give us a call and find out why our members keep coming back for more.
